The Devil and Tom Walker

Tom Walker lived near Boston, Massachusetts. He was in a bad marriage. He and his wife didn't like to spend time with each other. The wife had a fierce temper and was loud. There is a story about Kidd the pirate who buried treasure under a big tree in the swamps. Tom decided he would go look for it and when he did He found a skull and a tamohawk a little under the ground. Tom picked it up and a large black man sitting on a tree stump told him to put it down. The black man offered the treasure to Tom, but he decided not to take it and went home. He told his wife about the man and the treasure. She gathered some stuff and went into the forest. She came back after a while and gathered more things and went back. She never returned and after a few days, Tom went to look for her. He saw her apron in a tree. Inside the apron were her heart and liver. The black man offered the treasure to Tom again as a deal with the devil, but Tom had to do something in return for the treasure. He must become a usherer in the town and charge high interest. There were 3 knocks on his door at work and it was the black man. He grabbed him from his horse and they rode off to the swamps..

The Masque of Red Death

He had one of his men go over and ask the man with the weird appearance to take a hike.Well that was the wrong thing to do In the story a man with a Mask kills everyone and the clocks of Abbey stop clicking.

Danse macabre

The big bug behind the door. In this book it really focuses on the suspense and when it leads up to the suspense wheather your ready or not it will scare you. Allegory is a form of extended metaphor, in which objects, persons, and actions in a narrative, are equated with the meanings that lie outside the narrative itself. The underlying meaning has moral, social, religious, or political significance, and characters are often personifications of abstract ideas as charity, greed, or envy.
Thus an allegory is a story with two meanings, a literal meaning and a symbolic meaning.

Marks real name-Mark Twain's real name was Samuel Clemens. Mark twain is also a phenomenal author his 2 best books were Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain's books are very controversial because it deals with his life and other people have different have views and don't see eye to eye with him.

Interesting facts- He has a lot of fondness for cats. As I said before his real name isn't Mark Twain it is Samuel Clemens. He also worked as a printer when he was in his teenage years. Also when Mark was young he served in the American Civil War. At one time, he worked as a steam boat pilot. He also worked as a gold checking person and as a journalist. He was well appreciated as a lecturer and his method of story telling was praised by many. His stage presence was also appreciated widely. I think its amazing how much other stuff Mark Twain did and still had time to be one of the most popular authors ever.

Irony in literature is a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.

Jules Verne was a French author who helped pioneer the science-fiction genre. Mark Twain and Jules Verne were both very good authors and they lived in the same time.
